GENERAL NOTES |
He was a brilliant person who did not finish school but educated himself by reading. He managed the Sinton Dairy bottling plant for many years. Ernest wrote letters to the newspaper in support of Single Tax as had Joseph Sinton. Fred Handke, who spent several years as a child living in Joseph Sinton's house on the Hill next to the dairy remembers him as a likeable loner. The extraordinarily high ranking of the Sinton product was due to the dedicated efforts of Ernest, in his capacity of plant manager. "He was pleasant to the children when they visited the plant, but when he said to do something, you obeyed at once, but didn't know quite why. He was just that way." (Fred Handke) [JHJ] Notice published in the Colorado Springs Evening Telegraph on Monday 28 June 1915 reads City Briefs MARRIAGE - Ernest A. Sinton of Sinton Dairy company and Miss Gladys Carr were married Friday afternoon by Justice Frank Dunnington. The burial date given by the Evergreen Cemetery website is over four months from the death date, so one of them is presumably wrong. Ernest was self employed and therefore did not have a Social Security number, so no SSDI record is available to check dates.
