Samuel SINTON of Richmond and Sarah Elizabeth SINTON of Richmond were 1st cousins, 1 time removed. Their common ancestors are John SINTON of Rockmacreany and Rebecca CLARKE. [RFSS Jul 2003] Obituary supplied by Find A Grave contributor Anna DEATH OF S. SINTON Brother-in-law of Mrs. D. Cardwell Dies in Richmond. News has been received in Columbia of the death in Richmond, Va., of Samuel Sinton, brother-in-law of Mrs. David Cardwell of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Cardwell went to Richmond for the funeral. The Richmond News-Leader say of Mr. Sinton: "Samuel Sinton, 79 years old, who lived for a number of years in the Jefferson Hotel, died yesterday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock, in the Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be conducted from Grace Street Presbyterian Church tomorrow, at an hour to be announced later. Besides his widow, he leaves the following nephews and nieces: Arthur C. and James W. Sinton and the Misses Mary T., Jane G. and Eugenia Sinton. "Mr. Sinton was taken ill in November, and was moved to the Memorial Hospital December 19, when his condition became more serious. He began his business career with his brother Charles J. Sinton, in the hardware business in Richmond. Afterward he entered the insurance field, first in the firm of John H. Montague & Co., and later as a partner in the firm of Peyton & Sinton. He had been out of active business about 17 years, devoting much of his time in recent years to travel. [RFSS Mar 2016] |
