The children's names from the 1850 census, Wilkes-Barre. The ages there agree with hints in the letters that Betsey was to have a child. (LBS: "I have nothing further about them, except one letter written by Sidney vouching for William and Anne O'Brien before the meeting - and occasional mention of him in other letters." Letter 30 May 1820, Uncle Jo to Anne, "...from Sydney Tracey which announced thy arrival at Cattaragus ..." and 5 Feb 1835; Uncle Jo to Anne: "Sidney & Betsy still here in what used to be my den (I expect their daughter is to be married before long." In the 1850 census, Wilkes-Barre Bourough, pgs 441-2 the family of Sidney Tracy is shown. Sidney Tracy, age 63, merchant, $3,000 real estate, born in Conn.; Elizabeth Tracy age 63, born in Pa.; Charles A. Lane, age 33; Mary C. Lane, age 30 with $3,000 real estate; Mary S. Lane age 3, born in Pa; Lucius A. Lane, age 9 born in Georgia; Elizabeth Tracy age 24 born NY; Harriet W. Tracy, age 20, born in Pa. Also Nancy Garretson, age 35, Edward C. Linde, age 20, born Pa, clerk, Jacob Flishman age 16, and John Jackson, age 30 male, color Black, born in Va. In History of Luzerne, etc. 1880, in a list of Newspaper editors, is 1855, Sidney Tracy. Joseph and Jacob "Suiton" are listed in a list of early merchants.
Betsey and Sidney and family and at least Jacob and Polly and possibly others of the family left Uncle Jo in Wilkes-Barre and settled in Cattaragus, later Collins and vicinity, Erie County, NY. Anne and William O'Brien followed or went with them. All of Jacob's family returned to Wilkes-Barre, but Anne and William settled and raised their family in Collins Center.
