COHOES Janet Mae Chapman, 73, of Lancaster Street entered into the arms of the Lord, Thursday, October 16, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy after a brief illness. Janet was born August 17, 1930 in Watervliet, the daughter of the late Leland and Hazel Hazzard. She was a lifelong Capital District resident and she was very active with the Salvation Army in Schenectady. Later in life, Janet enjoyed vacationing during the winter months in Bradenton, Fla. Janet was predeceased by her husband, Arland A. Chapman who died in April of 1991. Survivors include her loving companion of the past 11 years, Ray H. Berthiaume of Waterford; two loving and devoted daughters, Ruth Clark of Schenectady and Rose Surnear of Amsterdam; two dear sisters, Carrie Krupski of Cohoes and Edna Zullo of Mechanicville; several precious grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held Monday 10:00 a.m. at the Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State Street, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A Legacy Candle Ceremony will be celebrated in Janet's memory at 7:45 p.m. Burial will be in Park View Cemetery.
