| Her paternal grandmother's father, Thomas Scambler, was the fifth in direct male descent from Edmund Scambler, DD, Bishop of Peterborough, afterwards Bishop of Norwich, who died 7 May 1594 at the Palace, Norwich, aged 85. A copy of his will, also original engraving of his likeness, were in her possession - at the time of the compilation of the Pedigree of the Families of MacGregor, Grierson and Greer. Niece of Sir Thomas Scambler Owden, Lord Mayor of London.
