| Quaker then Episcopalian.
He was "of Corn Market, Dublin" before immigrating to Louisville, KY . His family is mentioned as being baptized in the Episcopal church there, in a letter from the last member of the Quebec Sintons. (Letter to LBS) One baptism shows a Sinton as God-mother who has not been identified as belonging to this family. The 1850 Kentucky census index shows other Sintons not identified as belonging either. Letters, p. 162, 9 mo., 1826: "We had a letter the other day from cousin Wm. Sinton, he has an addition of another son to his family, he has four children now, ..." 8 mo 29th 1835: "Susan Sinton, Cousin William's eldest daughter is also in Armagh - she is a nice looking girl, she is nearly 15 years of age & is almost like a young woman, she has been greatly indulged at home & I think it will be useful to her being under her Aunt Mary's care..." and 10 6 mo 1837: "Among the failors last winter was our cousin Wm Sinton of Corn Market, since then he his wife & children went out to New Orleans to her brother Jackson who hath taken them to Lewisville up the Mississippi, State of Kentucky, about 16 hundred miles... who offers to befriend them very much." And then only comments as to his not writing, & in the last two letters that Susan and Alfred Pim live in New York but they did not know where. There are other passing references. This family appears in the 1850 census, Jefferson Co., Kentucky: William aged 47, Secretary, Insurance Company, all born in Ireland; Thomas B.(sic), age 27, Sarah (sic) J. age 25, Anne age 23 and John G. age 13. There is a Thomas R. Sinton listed in this census also; Age 25, a clerk, born in Ireland and living alone in Louisville, Jefferson Co. There are two Williams listed in census's of 1840-45; one in Perry County and one in Minerva, Mason County.
