SINTON, LUTISHIA BENTLEY JENKINS "TISH," 103, of Louisville, died February 5, 2009, at Baptist Hospital East Park Tower.

She began her teaching career in a one room school house in Washington County and taught in Jefferson County public school system for 35 years. She retired from Emmett Field Elementary which she dearly loved. After retiring, she tutored reading to children in the Highland area; she hoped that all would find reading a source of pleasure. Lutishia was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and a member of Kappa Delta Pi. She received a Masters Degree from the University of Louisville and wrote her thesis on "Creative Art in the Classroom." She belonged to the American Association of University Women, the Kentucky branch of the English Speaking Union, the University of Kentucky Alumni, Jefferson Co. Retired Teachers, the Highland Women's Club, Kentucky Historical Society and St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed books of family histories as Dynasty of Clintons, Bushes, Kennedys, Reagans, etc. She loved gardening and maintained a lovely garden of flowers and a bubbling fountain on her patio with the help of her friend, Thomas Chester.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Scott Sinton in 1986.

Lutishia leaves behind many loved ones and relatives. A devoted niece, Neva and husband Byron Bell, nieces, Lucille Gabhart and Joe Ann Fenley, and many nieces and nephews. She was cognizant of the many happy occasions she spent with the Gabharts' and the Fenleys'.

Memorial service: 1 p.m. Monday, February 9, 2009, St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 4700 Lowe Road 40220. Private burial in Cave Hill cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Pearson's. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
