Obituary published in Republican & Herald from September 23 to September 24, 2010 September 22, 2010 Hazel A. Marx, 91, of Port Carbon, passed away Wednesday at Berks County Home-Berks Heim, Reading. Born in Pottsville, Sept. 1, 1919, she was a daughter of the late George and Emma Harris. She was a member of St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church, Port Carbon. She worked in the kitchen at the Pottsville Hospital and then for the Wearever Pen and Pencil Factory, Deer Lake. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Anthony Leo Marx, in 1987; two sons, Anthony and Robert Marx; a daughter, June McDonald; three brothers, Albert, George and James Harris; three sisters, Betty Mease, Rachel Johnson and Dolores Gilbert. Hazel is survived by two daughters, Barbara Hinnershitz, Orwigsburg, and Bernadette Bound, Port Clinton; five sons, John Marx, Port Carbon, Tom Marx, Downingtown, Charlie Marx, Cressona, Joe Marx, Seltzer, Ken Marx, Port Carbon; 31 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church, Port Carbon, with the Rev. David W. Karns officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church. Interment will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Port Carbon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berks County Home-Berks Heim, P.O. Box 1495, Reading, PA 19603-1495. Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon, is in charge of arranements.
